RELAY CARNIVAL FAQs... Do we need to have a full team of four to compete? No - teams can be made up on the day of athletes from other clubs - these composite teams still earn points for the club and are a great way to make sure that everyone can compete. For the field events individual athlete performances count to club points.
What do I need to wear? To compete you need to have your uniform with registration number and Age patch fixed to the front of your shirt. If you don't have a GUNLAC shirt, you can wear a white shirt with your rego patch attached. Jetstar patches should also be fixed to shirts (the new sponsor of Little Athletics Australia). IGA patches should be removed. Do we need to attend for the whole day? The final events typically finish by 4pm, however athletes can leave once their events are finished. For younger age groups (U6, U7s, U8s) events in previous years have finished around 1pm.
Do parents have to help? Yes, but not for the entire day. Each family will be allocated a role, GUNLAC has to fill a set number of duties for the day, however each ‘shift’ is usually for around 2 hours, depending on numbers. Most jobs are not difficult, and if you are on the track you get to see your child race up close!
