The types of events you'll participate in at Gungahlin Athletics Club depends on your age. Different activities will be added to the program based on athlete's development in accordance with Little Athletics Australia guidelines.
Each week athletes participate in 4 or 5 events depending on their age group:
Tiny Tots (Under 4-5) athletes undertake games based activities and towards the end of the season participate in some events such as 50m, 100m and long jump (results are not recorded).
Under 6 athletes complete 3 track events and 1 ‘On track’ sessions.
Under 7&8 athletes complete 4 events (2 track events and 2 field events)
All other age groups complete 5 events, when high jump is scheduled there will be 4 events.
A weekly event program will be available prior to each Meet of the season, with events also pinned on the noticeboard at the Oval each week. From time to time the program is adjusted depending on athlete numbers across age groups. The coverage of events by age group is shown in the table below.
