The Gungahlin Athletics Lifetime Membership is a prestigious honour reserved for members who have devoted countless hours and made remarkable contributions to our club over the years.

Our Lifetime Members embody extraordinary dedication, leadership, and service, playing a pivotal role in shaping the club's success and community impact. This membership not only celebrates their past achievements but also stands as a lasting tribute to their unwavering commitment and passion for Gungahlin Athletics Club.
Club Members are able to nominate someone for Lifetime Membership at any time during the season, please provide a paragraph stating who you are nominating and why.
Committee Members will vote to determine if the nominated member will be recognised with a Lifetime Membership

SIMONE JORDAN                      

​INDUCTED 2023                SERVICE: 2013-CURRENT
Simone has been a long-term committee member.  She is best known for being President and has been a tireless advocate for athletics and Gungahlin Athletics.  Her contribution through volunteering at competitions, coordinating events volunteers and sharing her knowledge about athletics has been so valuable. She has been a world of Club knowledge for new and continuing committee members alike, as well as parents and athletes.  

She makes personal connections with so many Gungahlin Athletics  families and knows the kids by name as well as their achievements.

SHARON KENNARD

Inducted 2023                         Service: 2009-2022

Sharon held various roles at the club including: Vice President, Secretary, Track Manager, Communications coordinator.  She continued assisting at the club even when her younger kids decided not to continue with athletics.  

Sharon was someone who tended to pitch in whenever she saw a need - this saw her running canteens, coordinating carnivals, developing a roster and track program, arranging presentation days.  Not to mention she was regularly part of the set-up and pack down for each Saturday meet.

​REBECCA ("BEC") TANNER

​INDUCTED 2018                          SERVICE 2008-2021
During her time at GUNLAC, Rebecca held several key roles, including On-Track Coordinator, Newsletter Editor, ACT Carnival coordinator, Officer of Officials, President (5 seasons), Vice-President (2 seasons), and Registrar (4 seasons).

Utilising her Sport Science background, Rebecca and  Fiona Elliott developed the Gungahlin Little Athletics on-track program in 2008/09 to teach core athletics skills and fundamental motor development through a series of fun activities.

​Rebecca also served on the 2013 Australian Little Athletics Championships Organising Committee and the ACT Little Athletics Board (2014/15).

​​Karen Walker

​INDUCTED 2015                             SERVICE: 2006-2018
Karen held various roles at the club including Secretary, President, Chief Recording Officer, Straight Track Manager and Program Manager.
 
Karen was President when the club grew in size and oversaw the upgrade to the long jump pits, introduction of electronic timing gates, inclusion of walk events and development of the Under 6 program. Karen successfully applied for numerous government grants and sponsorships on behalf of the club.
 
Karen also held a position on the ACT Little Athletics Board.
