Coles aCT RELAY CARNIVAL

The time is fast approaching for the Coles ACT Relay Carnival. It's a fantastic opportunity for our athletes (from U6-Adult) to compete against other clubs from across the Territory and experience the thrill of running on a synthetic track in a fun, team-based atmosphere.

In the leadup to the event we've added some relay events to the Meet program and we’ll be running Relay training.

Expression of Interest: Write your name to our Expression of Interest sheet, it'll be at the Equipment Shed during Saturday meets. You can add your Expression of Interest before/after registering.

CANCELLED Meet 7 - saturday 30 November 2024

This week is Meet 7 of our season and congratulations to the 4 athletes who continue to set club records. We had a great time at the Capital Athletics Relay Carnival on Sunday, congratulations to all the athletes, families & volunteers who turned up in the 30+°C day and gave it their best. A particular shout out to the volunteers who were fabulous despite a few unexpected challenges. GUNLAC came home with a good collection of medals and some athletes were heard jingling their way home.

Registrations for the 2024/25 ACT Combined Events Championships are now open for athletes In U9+ age groups on the Capital Athletics website. Competition dates are 14-15 December 24 at the Woden Athletics track and entries will close at 4pm on Wed, 4th Dec 2024.

Line-Up Locations & Times:

8:20 AM: Tiny Tots (top oval) & U6-8 (straight track on bottom oval)
9:45 AM: Optional 1500m run for U11-17 athletes (round track on top oval)
9:50 AM: U9-17 (bottom oval, towards the senior throws)

Meet 6 GUNLAC Club Records:

U10M 800m: Two boys broke this 2010 record (2:54.15) last week, Leo C ran 2:51:51 to break the record, followed by Ashton Djurica who just came in faster at 2:51.24.
U11M 400m: Jasper Codrington lowered his own record to 1:10.23
U12M 400m: Arlo Booker broke last season's record to run 1:07.17
U17F Javelin: Zara Jordan added almost 2m to her javelin record, throwing a massive 29.22m

We've been lucky with the weather so far, but it looks like rain may be heading our way this Saturday. We try not to cancel meets and will only do so if the ovals are closed or it's unsafe. Keep an eye on your emails, website, and social media for updates. If you don’t hear anything, the meet is on! Here's hoping for a continuation of the sunny weather!

2024 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships

The Australian Little Athletics Championships is an annual two-day event. All states and territories, apart from the Northern Territory, are represented at the championships.
Capital Athletics participates in the U13 teams Championship and the U15 Combined Event Championships.

Nominations for the ACT Little Athletics team are open.

U13 athletes wanting to nominate must compete in the U9-13 ACT Championships in the events they want to nominate for. Registrations for the ACT Championships close on Monday 11 March.

Capital Athletics U9-U13 ACT Championships

The Capital Athletics U9-U13 ACT Championships will be held at Woden Park from Saturday 16 March to Sunday 17 March and is open to all registered Little Athletics athletes born in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, including Dual Registered athletes born in 2011 and 2012. Hurdles events are also open to Little Athletics athletes born in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.

When: Saturday 16 March to Sunday 17 March, 2023

Where: Woden Park Athletics Track
Corner of Ainsworth and Kitchener St, Phillip, 2606, ACT

Cost: The maximum cost for this competition is capped at $30.00. Entries will be capped at 6 (six) events per athlete.
