Meet 2 - 25th October 2025

Hello Gecko family the second athletics meet is almost upon us.  If you missed Meet #1 check out our Arrival Guide - it provides information for athletes, volunteers and Age Group Managers.  Our volunteers are still finding their feet so a smile and thank you will go a long way to creating a great club atmosphere!

Reminder: Please make sure athletes have both numbers (Registration and Age Group) pinned to their shirt, a few athletes were in the wrong age group last week which unfortunately means their results couldn’t be recorded. 

UPCOMING EVENTS & COMPETITIONS

• Fundraising Bunnings BBQ: 2 November 2025
  Please see Tracey in the canteen if you are available to assist with cooking or serving at our fundraiser.
• Coles ACT Relay Competition: 23rd November 2025, Woden Athletics Track
  Registrations are open to U6+ athletes and sign up information will be available on Saturday, we encourage all our members to consider competing in this fun relay event.  We’d love to have lots of Gungahlin teams.
• Coles Community Round: Meet 5, 15 November 2025, Amaroo Playing Fields

Age Group split: Due to registration numbers our U12/13B and U13/14G will be split into U12 and U12 Boys and U13 & U14 Girls and they will compete separately.

Volunteers: There are still a number of vacant positions that we need to fill including Age Group Managers, please contact us ASAP if you can assist with these important roles.  Groups that do not have an Age Group Manager will not be able to commence the meet until a volunteer is found for this role.  We require the following Age Group Managers:
           Girls - U8, U9, U10, U11 & U13
           Boys - U7, U8, U11 & U13

Start Times:  At the start time athletes should be lined up by their Age Group basket at the following locations (check out the map if you're not sure where these are):
   8:20am: Tiny Tots (bottom oval near junior throws) and U6-8 (straight track on bottom oval)
    9:45am: 1500m Run U11+ athletes (meet at the round track)
    9:50am: U9+ (Bottom oval near senior throws)​

Programs and Rosters: The program for Saturday's events is now available and Group B is on Roster Duty.  Volunteers (other than Tiny Tots) will need to sign in at the Equipment shed before reporting at their rostered duty. If you need assistance, please talk to a committee member (black committee shirts).  Those on setup duty should arrive no later than 8:00am (U6-8); 8:20am (Tiny Tots); 9:20am (U9-17).

Registration bags:  should be collected before your athlete commences the meet and will be available from 8 AM for athletes registered by Friday night. Remember to bring safety pins to securely attach their new numbers to their shirts.  If you are new to the club please read through the New Family Information Sheet.

Uniforms: We have limited stock in our Uniforms and unfortunately it doesn’t look like our new stock will arrive by Saturday.  If you do not have a uniform top please wear a plain tshirt and pin your registration numbers to that tshirt until the new stock is available.

Gungahlin Athletics Club Records - Meet 1: Congratulations to two of our older boys who set two new club records at our first meet.
