It’s coming up to our Coles Community Round - Meet 5 and we can’t wait to see your Coles inspired costumes. Get creative, dress up in your best Coles-themed outfit for this weekend’s athletics event — think socks, tutus, a red gecko or two, price tags, shopping baskets, hats, headbands, ribbons, facepaint… the more creative, the better!
We’ll be welcoming Jaryd Clifford, a Coles Ambassador, middle-long distance runner and accomplished paralympian, who will be joining us from 10-11:00am and we can’t wait to give him a massive welcome from the Geckos! Bonus points if you’re up for making a sign. If you’re in the junior session please stick around to say Hello. Please pay attention to the Start Times and Program details below - there are a number of changes that you need to be aware of! Meeting our Paralympian & lots of fun activities - what to expect:
------------------ UPCOMING EVENTS & COMPETITIONS Coles ACT Relay Competition: 23rd November 2025, Woden Athletics Track (Entries close Mon, 17 Nov 2025) Last days to register for the Relay Carnival. Get amongst it to win medals and earn Gungahlin some pride. Current team numbers have been circulated and there’s interest from at least 1 Adult - it’d be great to fill our teams of 4 with Gecko athletes. More information is available on the Relay page, the Capital Athletics registration page or speak to Tanya (Team Manager). ------------------ Start Times: There’s a few changes to the Start times and gathering points. In honour of our Guest this week, and his achievements as a middle distance runner, we have scheduled our 1500m Run instead of the Race walks and it will be run slightly later. 8:20am: Tiny Tots (top oval) and U6-8 (straight track) 9:45am: All Club to gather at Coles tent near Hurdles and High Jump for announcements 10:00am: Jaryd Clifford arrival 10:15am: 1500m Run U11-Adult (meet at round track - bottom oval) & Session 2 commences 11:00am: Jaryd Clifford departs Programs and Rosters: Relays are also back on this week’s program for Saturday's events, in preparation for the Relay Carnival. Group A is on Roster Duty and Volunteers (other than Tiny Tots) will need to sign in at the Equipment shed before reporting at their rostered duty. Uniforms: The new red uniform items - T-shirts, Sleeveless T-shirts, Crops and Racer Singlets have arrived and can be purchased before 10am and after 11am.
