GUNLAC Meet 16 brings us closer to the end of our GUNLAC season with only a few more meets to go. The Tiny Tots have a couple of events on our program this week - how exciting! Give them a big cheer if you see them out on the bottom oval!
------------ Presentation Day, Sunday 30th March 2025. Nominations for Club Person of the Year and any possible Lifetime Membership awards close this Sunday, 2nd March 2025. Get your nominations to the President ([email protected]). You can check out all of the awards, medals and trophies we give out on our PRESENTATION DAY page. ----------- Start Times: 8:20am: Tiny Tots (top oval) and U6-8 (straight track on bottom oval) 9:45am: Optional Race Walk (round track on top oval) U9-700m; U10-11-1100m; U12-17 - 1500m 9:50am: U9-17 (bottom oval, towards the senior throws) Programs and Rosters: The program for Saturday's events is now available and Group A is on Roster Duty, please see a committee member (wearing a red shirt) when you arrive for instructions. Presentation Day: To be held on Sunday, 30th March 2025 at the Ainslie Football Club. Start times for each session are: 12.30pm - Tiny Tots, U6-U7; 1:30pm - U8-U9; 2:30pm - U10-U17. Team Photographs: Our photographer will continue coming around to take team photos. - NEW - Coffee van is back this week. Meet 15 - GUNLAC Records & U6-8 Team Challenge Congratulations to Anella J for achieving an U8 Girls GUNLAC record jumping 3.45m in Long Jump! The previous record of 3.38m was set back in 2019. A huge weekend at the AIS over 2.5 days of competition in hot conditions. GUNLAC had 40 athletes give it their best and we achieved 46 Medals and 83 Personal Bests!! Congratulations to all our athletes who entered - we’re proud of you all. GUNLAC training is on Thursdays from 6-7pm at Amaroo Playing Fields.
This week athletes will be working on their High Jump technique. We need adult helpers for each group to help assist with lining up, adjusting the high jump bar, as well as helping with the setup and packdown.
The schedule for the rest of the season can be found on the TRAINING page. A smaller meet this week for GUNLAC Meet 15 - Saturday, 22 February 2025 as we are only running our Junior session. There's no GUNLAC meet for U9-17 athletes this Saturday due to the direct overlap with Capital Athletics U9-U18 Underage Championships.
Best of luck to all our GUNLAC athletes competing at the Championships this weekend, there’s 500 athletes registered for the event so it should be a good competition and we hope you have a great meet. ------------ Don’t forget to Save the Date for our Presentation Day, Sunday 30th March 2025; and get your nominations into the President ([email protected]) for Club Person of the Year and possibly Lifetime Membership awards. Zooper Dooper reminder: With a hot weekend it might be perfect timing for our registered athletes to claim their free Zooper Dooper from our canteen (the card was in the registration packs). We heard our GUNLAC athletes had a blast at the U6-8 Team Challenge in Calwell last Sunday and the team Havana was in placed second. Good work geckos. |
