CARNIVAL START TIMES Due to COVID restrictions the carnival this year will be a TRACK ONLY event and will be completed in set sessions. The program for the day can be found here.
The following age group sessions will be run:
Under 6-8 - 8am - 10am Under 9-10 - 10.15am - 12pm Under 11 - 14 - 12pm - 2.15pm Under 15-17 - 2.15pm - 4pm
REGISTRATION Any athlete wishing to compete must register at https://www.athleticsintheact.com.au/events/81535/ and will now close by 11:45pm on Sunday 6th December. Please note there will be NO LATE ENTRIES TAKEN OR ANY ENTRIES ALLOWED ON THE DAY. Please make sure you complete 1 entry per athlete.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions currently in place and to ensure as many athletes as possible can compete, for athletes under the age of 18 there is a maximum of 1 parent/guardian per child in the venue during the session they are competing in. You will need to complete the spectator registration form which can be found at https://www.athleticsintheact.com.au/events/81536/ by the close of entries otherwise you will not be allowed inside the venue. If you have a child not competing during a session you must complete a spectator registration form for the session/s they will be spectating at. Please make sure you complete 1 entry per spectator.
GUNLAC TRACK EVENT TEAMS A list of GUNLAC entries/teams will be sent to families once registrations are completed. Teams can be changed on the day if necessary, the order listed is not the necessarily running order (athletes can choose this). We will be asking one parent to be responsible for each team, to ensure they go when called to marshalling. This will be determined once final entries are provided to us from Athletics ACT.
MAKING UP RELAY TEAMS For track events, if we do not currently have a GUNLAC team of 4 athletes, or have extra, we will firstly try and have athletes run up an age group to make a GUNLAC team. This can be changed on the day and may depend on the schedule of other events.
Alternatively, we will form composite teams with athletes from other ACT clubs on the day.
For younger age groups we asked that one parent to be responsible for each age group to make sure they get to their events when called etc. The carnival announcer will announce each track and field event so it is important that parents and athletes listen to all announcements.
UNIFORM: Athletes MUST wear their GUNLAC uniform (i.e. GUNLAC t-shirt/singlet/crop top + black shorts) with registration number, age patch and Coles patch clearly visible. We will have Coles patches at the tent on Saturday. If you do not have any uniform you need to contact us ASAP to arrange a shirt purchase.
SPIKES: spikes can only be worn by athletes U11 and up for laned events and Under 13 and older for unlaned events.
