gunlacparentroster_2019.pdfCARNIVAL START TIMES: The carnival will be run in two sessions - younger athletes will compete FIRST with events commencing at 9am (under 6, 7 and 8 Girls and Boys). Under 9 and older athletes will commence their events once these younger athletes are finished, which wont be before 10.30am.
GUNLAC TEAM ARRIVAL TIMES: UNDER 6,7 & 8 - 8.15am UNDER 9 and older - by 10.15am
REGISTRATION Athletes must register online to attend the carnival. This can be done using this link. Registrations close on Wednesday December 4th.
CARNIVAL INFORMATION The Carnival flyer lists events by age group. Under 6 athletes complete in track events ONLY.
The carnival booklet has all the information you need for the day including program, event lists, rules and an oval map. The field allocation document lists where each club has been allocated for field events, which helps athletes know where to go once their events are called.
FIELD EVENTS For field event relays athletes must compete in their own age group. In long jump, shot put and discus events each athlete will be allowed two trials only. In high jump, an athleteshall be eliminated after recording two (2) consecutive failed attempts and the bar will rise in increments of 5cm only. The performance of the two top competitors from each centre will be added together to determine the overall team placing.
GUNLAC TRACK EVENT TEAMS A list of GUNLAC entries/teams will be sent to families once registrations are completed. Teams can be changed on the day if necessary, the order listed is not the necessarily running order (athletes can choose this).
MAKING UP RELAY TEAMS For track events, if we do not currently have a GUNLAC team of 4 athletes, or have extra, we will firstly try and have athletes run up an age group to make a GUNLAC team (but please note, U6/U7/U8 athletes cannot compete in the 4x100m circular relay). This can be changed on the day and may depend on the schedule of other events.
Alternatively, we will form composite teams with athletes from other ACT clubs on the day.
For younger age groups we asked that one parent to be responsible for each age group to make sure they get to their events when called etc. The carnival announcer will announce each track and field event so it is important that parents and athletes listen to all announcements. GUNLAC PARENT ROSTER: It is a condition of registration that families will assist on the day on a field event (GUNLAC is usually allocated long jump and a throws area). We will have a helper roster and parents will be allocated one or two age groups to cover at the field event (usually around 1 hour). This year we have shot put Area 4 all day and Discus Area 2 in the second session only
Please do not register if you are not able to help - carnivals are always busy and we wont have the capacity to cover parents who do not show up for their rostered spot. Note - we wont require parents of Under 6 athletes to be rostered on unless they have older siblings also competing. However, we will need one or two parents to be responsible for taking our Under 6s teams to marshalling.
UNIFORM: Athletes MUST wear their GUNLAC uniform (i.e. GUNLAC t-shirt/singlet/crop top + black shorts) with registration number, age patch and Coles patch clearly visible. We will have Coles patches at the tent on Saturday. If you do not have any uniform you need to contact us ASAP to arrange a shirt purchase.
SPIKES: spikes can only be worn by athletes U9 and up for laned events, long jump and high jump. Please note that for the Swedish medley relay (U11 and up – 100m, 300m, 200m 400m) only the 100m will be run in lanes and only athletes running this leg are permitted to wear spikes.
