Our Come and Try and Registration weekend will be held on October 7th and 8th at Amaroo Oval - 10am - 12pm both days. The weekend is an opportunity to find out more about us, if you're new to Little Athletics, or if you want to try out some running, jumping and throwing activities, We will also have registration packs ready for pick up for those athletes who have completed registrations online prior to that weekend. The Level 1 Community Coaching Course is a great introduction to coaching young athletes. We would recommend this course for those parents interested in assisting in coaching at training, and also our Age Group Managers who help out athletes in events at Saturday meets. Athletics ACT regularly runs this course during the athletics season, the next one is being held on Sunday September 3rd. It is not too late to register - full details on the Athletics ACT website. Email Shane Ellis if you are interested in attending. GUNLAC will reimburse the costs of this course for those parents who assist in coaching this season.  It may be snowing today but before will know it, it will be warming up and time for Little Athletics! Planning for our Season is well underway and we are keen to fill the remaining positions on our Committee and Committee Support positions. In particular we are seeking: Canteen Manager Assistant Treasurer Assistant Registrar Ribbon Writers On Track Coordinator for Under 6 athletes We are also recruiting Age Group Managers for all age groups. This year you can sign up for these positions, and many others, during Athlete registration using the Duty Roster. If you have already registered but would like to volunteer you can email the Committee at [email protected]  Did you know that if you are an athlete Registered with Gungahlin Little Athletics Club and are Under 12 - Under 17 age groups , you can register as a Dual Athlete with North Canberra Gungahlin Athletics Club? NCGA are a senior athletics club with athletes competing in ACT Athletics meets during both summer and winter seasons. Summer series meets are held on Friday or Saturday afternoons (no clash with Little Athletics!). Full flyer with link an be found here on our Club Documents page. Check out more details on our Registration Page! Please note that this year we will be asking families to nominate a position or duty that they are able to perform during the season. A few of these jobs are every week positions, most are not and just require a family to help out a few times during the season (such as being on a Canteen roster or helping on age group baskets). We cannot run our meets without parents to help, and we do not want to have to rely on only a handful of parents helping EVERY week.  |
